Ubiquiti Restock Alerts in Home Assistant

July 8, 20265 min read

If you run Home Assistant, you already have the perfect hub for restock alerts. Instead of one more app pinging your phone, you can turn a Ubiquiti restock into anything Home Assistant can do — a Companion app notification, a flashing light, a spoken announcement on a speaker, or a step in a larger automation.

UIPing integrates with Home Assistant directly, so a stock change on ui.com can trigger your smart home in real time.

Why Home Assistant Is Great for Restock Alerts

  • You control the delivery — route alerts to the Companion app, a dashboard, a light, a speaker, or all of them
  • Automations, not just notifications — flash an office lamp when the switch you need is back, or only notify during work hours
  • Self-hosted — the homelab crowd building UniFi networks is exactly the audience already running Home Assistant
  • Consolidated — restock alerts live alongside the rest of your home automations instead of in a separate app

How the Integration Works

UIPing calls a Home Assistant notify service whenever a monitored ui.com page changes. You give UIPing your Home Assistant URL, a long-lived access token, and the notify service to call. From there, the alert becomes a normal Home Assistant event you can act on however you like.

Step-by-Step Setup

Step 1: Create a Long-Lived Access Token

In Home Assistant, open your profile, scroll to Long-Lived Access Tokens, and create one named "UIPing." Copy it — you will not see it again.

Step 2: Make Sure Home Assistant Is Reachable

UIPing needs to reach your instance over HTTPS. If you use Nabu Casa Cloud or an external reverse proxy, use that URL. Note the notify service you want to call, for example notify.mobile_app_your_phone.

Step 3: Add Your Details to UIPing

Sign up, then in Settings enter your Home Assistant URL, access token, and notify service. Home Assistant delivery is available on paid plans.

Step 4: Enable HA Notifications on a Monitor

Add a ui.com product or category page and turn on Home Assistant as a notification channel. Use the test button to confirm the notification arrives on your device.

Automation Ideas

  • Visual alert — trigger a light to flash when a specific product is back in stock
  • Announce it — use text-to-speech to say "The UDM Pro Max is back in stock" on a smart speaker
  • Quiet hours — only push restock alerts between 8am and 10pm, or escalate to a louder alert during work hours
  • Log to a dashboard — record every restock event so you can see how often a product returns

Home Assistant vs Other Channels

UIPing also supports email, ntfy push, Discord, Slack, and custom webhooks. Home Assistant is the best choice when you want alerts woven into your smart home rather than in a separate app — and it pairs naturally with the UniFi gear you are already running. For a personal phone-only alert with zero setup, ntfy is the quickest.
