How to Set Up Slack Alerts for Ubiquiti Restocks

July 8, 20264 min read

If your team runs on Slack, the last place you want a time-sensitive restock alert to land is a personal inbox nobody is watching. When a UniFi Dream Machine Pro Max or a USW-Pro-Max-48-PoE comes back in stock, it can sell out in under an hour — and the person waiting for it might be in a meeting. Pipe the alert into a shared Slack channel and the whole team sees it at once.

UIPing sends Ubiquiti stock-change alerts to any Slack channel through an incoming webhook — no app to install, no bot to build.

Why Slack for Restock Alerts

  • Shared visibility — post to a #procurement or #it-ops channel so whoever is free to buy can act immediately
  • Fast mobile push — Slack's mobile app delivers instantly, which matters when stock lasts minutes
  • Threaded history — every restock is logged in the channel, so you can see how often a product comes back
  • Already open — most teams keep Slack running all day, so there's nothing new to monitor

Step-by-Step: Slack Webhook Setup

Step 1: Create a Slack Incoming Webhook

In Slack, create an app at api.slack.com/apps (or use an existing one), enable Incoming Webhooks, and click "Add New Webhook to Workspace." Choose the channel where alerts should post and copy the webhook URL. It looks like https://hooks.slack.com/services/T000/B000/XXXX

Step 2: Create a UIPing Account

Sign up at UIPing. Slack webhooks are available on all paid plans (Starter at $7/month and up).

Step 3: Add the Webhook to UIPing

In your dashboard, open the Webhooks page, click "Add Webhook," choose Slack as the type, and paste the URL. Name it something like "Slack #it-ops" so it is easy to identify.

Step 4: Point a Monitor at It

Add the ui.com product or category page you want to watch and select your Slack webhook as the notification channel. UIPing posts a message the moment stock status, price, or page content changes.

Step 5: Send a Test

Use the "Send Test" button to confirm the connection — a test message should appear in your channel within seconds.

Slack vs Other Channels

UIPing delivers to email (all plans), ntfy push, Discord, Slack, Home Assistant, and custom webhooks. Slack is the natural fit when the people who need to buy work as a team. For a personal phone alert, ntfy is fastest; many admins run both — ntfy for themselves and Slack for the team.

Tips for Team Purchasing

  • One channel, many products — point several monitors at the same Slack webhook to build a single restock feed for your whole shopping list
  • Watch category pages — monitoring the switching or wireless category catches restocks on any model, not just one SKU
  • Have checkout ready — a saved ui.com payment method turns the alert into a 60-second purchase
